Isomenthone has been found to exhibit antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant activities. Additionally, its potential neuroprotective and anticancer effects have been examined. Isomenthone has also been recognized for its insecticidal properties, presenting a possible natural insect deterrent. The exact mode of action of isomenthone remains unclear. However, studies suggest that it might exert its beneficial effects by influencing various signaling pathways within the body. For instance, it may act to restrain the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1 beta and tumor necrosis factor-alpha. Furthermore, it has been discovered to trigger the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) pathway, which is vital in protecting cells against oxidative stress.
