(±)-Epinephrine hydrochloride, also known as racemic epinephrine, is a synthetic combination of two stereoisomers of epinephrine. This compound is a racemic mixture of Levo-epinephrine and Dextro-epinephrine, two isomers of epinephrine. The mechanism of action of (±)-Epinephrine hydrochloride involves the activation of the β-adrenergic receptor, present in the lungs, heart, and other organs.
