PLSCR3 Antibody (SQ-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects PLSCR3 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PLSCR3 antibody (SQ-9) is available as the non-conjugated form. PLSCR3, also known as phospholipid scramblase 3, is a crucial calcium-dependent mitochondrial membrane protein that plays a significant role in the regulation of mitochondrial respiratory function and morphology, as well as apoptotic responses. Specifically, PLSCR3 is responsible for the transport of cardiolipin, a vital polyglycerophospholipid, from the inner mitochondrial membrane to the outer mitochondrial membrane. This transport is essential because cardiolipin is integral to the proper functioning of mitochondrial enzymes that generate adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the energy currency of the cell. Furthermore, PLSCR3 activity is modulated by phosphorylation through protein kinase C delta (PKC δ), positioning PLSCR3 as a key downstream effector in PKC δ-induced apoptosis. PLSCR3 expression is widespread across various tissues, although notably absent in the brain, liver, and testis, highlighting specialized functions in other cellular contexts.
