PiT1/2 Antibody (SY-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects PiT1/2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PiT1/2 antibody (SY-12) is available as a non-conjugated format. PiT1 and PiT2 proteins, members of the SLC20 family, are crucial sodium-dependent phosphate transporters that play a significant role in maintaining phosphate homeostasis within cells. These proteins are predominantly located on the membranes of polarized epithelial cells, particularly in tissues such as bone, kidney, and intestine, where they facilitate the cotransport of sodium and phosphate ions. This function is vital for various physiological processes, including bone mineralization and cellular signaling. Notably, PiT2 also serves as a receptor for the amphotropic murine leukemia virus (A-MuLV), which has implications in gene therapy as A-MuLV can infect a wide range of mammalian cell lines, including human cells. The ability of A-MuLV to utilize PiT1 and PiT2 for entry into cells makes these transporters important targets in the development of retroviral vector systems for gene transfer technologies.
