QUICK LINKS

Piperacillin-d5, is the labeled analogue of Piperacillin (sc-205807), an antibacterial agent that works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. It binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which are enzymes involved in the synthesis of the cell wall. By inhibiting the activity of these enzymes, piperacillin prevents the cell wall from being built and the bacteria from growing and dividing. It has been used to study the mechanisms of bacterial resistance, the effects of antibiotics on bacterial growth, and the efficacy of antibiotic combinations. It may inhibit the growth of a variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Enterococcus faecalis. It may act to have anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and antiviral effects.
