QUICK LINKS

Pimprinine is an indole alkaloid produced by many species of Streptomyces. It is a potent inhibitor of monoamine oxidase and has shown antiepileptic effects. More recently, pimprinine showed promising anticonvulsant activity in electric seizure threshold tests in mice, comparable to phenyl hydantoin. Pimprinine also inhibited tremorine-induced tremors and analgesia in mice.
