QUICK LINKS

Phycocyanobilin is a linear tetrapyrrole chromophore that is covalently bound to phycocyanin, one of the primary light-harvesting pigments found in cyanobacteria and certain algae. In research, Phycocyanobilin is studied for its role in the absorption and transfer of light energy during photosynthesis, contributing to the understanding of how phototrophic organisms harness light. Its photophysical properties are of particular interest in spectroscopic studies aimed at elucidating the mechanisms of energy transfer and the structural basis of light absorption. Additionally, Phycocyanobilin is used in the investigation of the assembly and regulation of phycobilisomes, the light-harvesting complexes to which phycocyanin belongs. Due to its strong fluorescence, Phycocyanobilin is also explored as a potential natural fluorophore for applications in imaging techniques. Understanding the properties and behavior of Phycocyanobilin deepens the knowledge of photosynthetic processes and aids in the development of bio-inspired light-harvesting systems.

What is the specification for purity? >98%? 99%? you suggested I ask the technical department for a COA, but they ask for the batch number which you don't give. Please give a useful answer.

Asked by: rkaufman27
Thank you for your question. The purity is lot specific, which is why we ask for lot information so we can provide accurate information. Here is a link to a sample CoA for a previous lot. Please note this may be different for any lot you may purchase in the future, it is provided to you as an example. The purity for this biochemical ~≥95%. http://datasheets.scbt.com/coa/coa.php?sc=sc-396921B&lot=L1019
