Phosphatase Inhibitor Cocktail C acts as an inhibitor of alkaline, and serine/threonine phosphatases. The compound is composed of the following inhibitors: Cantharidin (sc-201321), (−)-p-Bromotetramisole oxalate (sc-201431), and Calyculin A (sc-24000). Cantharidin and Calyculin A are effective PP-1/PP2A phosphatase inhibitors and (−)-p-Bromotetramisole oxalate acts as a protein-tyrosine phosphatase inhibitor. Alkaline phosphatases are part of a group called phosphomonoesterases, which hydrolyze phosphate esters. Serine/threonine phosphatases are reported to be located in the cytoplasm and play an important role in signal transduction and transcriptional activation.
