QUICK LINKS

Phorat-sulfone is a chemical compound that functions as an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. It acts by binding to the active site of the acetylcholinesterase enzyme, preventing the hydrolysis of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. This inhibition leads to an accumulation of acetylcholine at the synaptic cleft, resulting in prolonged stimulation of cholinergic receptors. At the molecular level, Phorat-sulfone forms a stable complex with the acetylcholinesterase enzyme, disrupting its normal function. This disruption ultimately interferes with the transmission of nerve impulses, leading to a range of physiological effects.
