    SEE ALSO...

PHACS Antibody (MA-02) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects PHACS protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Anti-PHACS antibody (MA-02) is available as non-conjugated format. PHACS protein, also known as putative human ACS or ACC (1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate synthase homolog), is a 501 amino acid enzyme that plays a crucial role in various metabolic processes. PHACS belongs to the alpha family of pyridoxal-5-prime-phosphate enzymes and is expressed in a wide range of human tissues, indicating importance in physiological functions. Notably, PHACS shares structural similarities with aspartate aminotransferase and tyrosine aminotransferase, which are involved in amino acid metabolism. PHACS features overlapping aminotransferase I and beta-eliminating lyase domains, which are essential for enzymatic activity. While plant homolog, ACS, is a key player in biosynthesis of phytohormone ethylene—vital for plant growth and development—PHACS does not catalyze synthesis of 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate, highlighting distinct functional role in human biology. Understanding PHACS function is important as this research may provide insights into metabolic pathways and potential therapeutic targets for various diseases.

Can sc-130477: PHACS (MA-02) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

    Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-130477: PHACS (MA-02) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
