PGRP-L Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Peptidoglycan recognition protein-L (PGRP-L) in mouse samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PGRP-L is a crucial pattern recognition molecule composed of 576 amino acids, making PGRP-L the longest and most widely expressed member of the PGRP family. PGRP-L plays a significant role in the innate immune response by recognizing and binding to peptidoglycan, a component of bacterial cell walls, particularly from Gram-positive bacteria. PGRP-L′s ability to digest peptidoglycan is facilitated by N-acetylmuramyl-L-alanine-amidase activity, which is dependent on zinc ions. PGRP-L can form homodimers and may also interact with other PGRP proteins, enhancing functional versatility. PGRP-L is expressed as both a secreted serum protein and a transmembrane protein in liver parenchymal cells, highlighting PGRP-L′s importance in immune surveillance and response. While PGRP-L deficient mice show slightly reduced levels of interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha, these mice do not exhibit significant phenotypic abnormalities, suggesting PGRP-L may have a subtle yet important role in modulating immune functions. Additionally, PGRP-L is implicated in the activation of Nod1, an intracellular pattern recognition receptor, further underscoring PGRP-L′s relevance in the immune system′s ability to detect and respond to microbial threats.
