QUICK LINKS

PGE1 (Prostaglandin E1) is a major prostaglandin found in human semen that acts as an inhibitor of platelet aggregation. Additionally, PGE1 may act to affect protein kinase C (PKC), calcium movement, and adenylate cyclase, yielding a multitude of physiological effects. Adenylate cyclase is an enzyme responsible for the conversion of ATP to cyclic AMP (cAMP). Elevated levels of cAMP within cells lead to a variety of cellular responses, including the inhibition of platelet aggregation. The cAMP pathway is pivotal for transmitting signals from the cell surface to its interior, influencing processes such as cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. PGE1 is the cyclooxygenase metabolite of dihomo-y-linolenic acid, but it is undetectable in the plasma of animals.

Hello, is this product usable for cell culture purpose (of course after steile filtration)? Thx for any answer

Asked by: Jessica B
Thank you for your question. This product has not been specifically tested for cell culture use and is not cell culture grade, however, most products can still be used in cell culture applications by following basic cell culture protocols, e.g. using cell culture grade/sterilized solvents, aseptic technique, and sterilely filtering in a sterile hood.
