PGAM1/4 Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects PGAM1/4 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PGAM1/4 is a member of the phosphoglycerate mutase (PGAM) family, which plays a crucial role in glucose metabolism and the regulation of 2,3-bisphosphoglycerate levels, a key metabolite in the glycolytic pathway. PGAM1/4 is primarily located in the cytoplasm, where PGAM1/4 exists as homodimers or heterodimers, facilitating the interconversion of 3-phosphoglycerate and 2-phosphoglycerate, essential steps in energy production. PGAM1/4 presence in various tissues, including skeletal muscle, heart, and mature sperm cells, underscores PGAM1/4′s importance in metabolic processes and cellular energy homeostasis. Notably, PGAM4, previously thought to be a pseudogene, has been confirmed to encode a functional protein, highlighting the evolutionary significance of this gene and its role in maintaining metabolic flexibility across species.
