Peroxin 5 Antibody (B-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Peroxin 5 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Peroxin 5 (B-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Peroxin 5 protein plays a crucial role in peroxisome biogenesis, acting as a receptor for proteins that contain peroxisome targeting signal 1 (PTS1). This function is vital because peroxisomes are essential organelles involved in various metabolic processes, including breakdown of very long-chain fatty acids and detoxification of hydrogen peroxide. Proper functioning of Peroxin 5 is critical for import of PTS1-containing proteins into peroxisomes, and interaction with other peroxins, such as Peroxin 13, is necessary for efficient transport.
