PEDF Antibody (D-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PEDF (D-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PEDF is a glycoprotein predominantly secreted by retinal pigment epithelium cells and plays a crucial role in neuroprotection and differentiation, making PEDF vital for maintaining retinal health. PEDF belongs to the serine protease inhibitor (Serpin) superfamily and inhibits angiogenesis and cell proliferation, which is particularly important in ocular diseases where abnormal blood vessel growth can lead to vision loss. Strategic localization of PEDF within the interphotoreceptor matrix allows effective influence on the underlying neural retina, thereby enhancing neuroprotective effects. PEDF induces neuronal differentiation and promotes central nervous system neuron survival, protecting against degeneration caused by serum withdrawal or glutamate toxicity, highlighting potential therapeutic implications in neurodegenerative conditions.
