PCP-4 Antibody (1E3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects PCP-4 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PCP-4 antibody (1E3) is available as the non-conjugated format. PCP-4, also known as Purkinje cell protein 4 or PEP-19, is a calmodulin (CaM) regulatory protein predominantly expressed in neuronal cells, where PCP-4 plays a crucial role in calcium signaling. PCP-4′s unique structure includes an IQ motif that facilitates calcium-dependent interactions with CaM, influencing the dynamics of calcium binding and release from the C-terminal domain of CaM. This interaction is vital for various cellular processes, including synaptic plasticity and neurotransmitter release, which are essential for proper neuronal function. Importantly, the IQ motif contains a serine residue that is subject to phosphorylation by all isoforms of protein kinase C (PKC), a modification that can significantly alter PCP-4′s regulatory capabilities. Dysregulation of PCP-4 has been linked to several pathologies, including uterine leiomyomas and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer′s and Huntington′s disease, while PCP-4 overexpression is associated with cerebellar hypoplasia, a characteristic feature of Down syndrome.
