PCDH8 Antibody (JK-19) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects protocadherin-8 in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PCDH8, also known as Arcadlin or PAPC, is a crucial 1,070 amino acid single-pass type I membrane protein characterized by six cadherin domains, which are essential for mediating cell-cell adhesion in the central nervous system. PCDH8 is predominantly localized to the cell membrane and specifically expressed in both fetal and adult brain tissues, highlighting PCDH8′s significant role in establishing and maintaining neuronal connections. Anti-PCDH8 antibody (JK-19) has revealed that PCDH8 is often inactivated or silenced in breast cancer, suggesting a protective role against tumorigenesis. Additionally, PCDH8 exists in two isoforms from alternative splicing, differing in cytoplasmic tails, which may influence functional properties and interactions within the cellular environment. PCDH8 monoclonal antibody (JK-19) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers investigating cell adhesion dynamics and protocadherin implications in cancer biology and neurodevelopment.
