PAO Antibody (C-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PAO protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PAO (C-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PAO protein plays a crucial role in regulating polyamine metabolism, specifically in the back-conversion pathway where PAO catalyzes the oxidation of acetylated spermine and spermidine, leading to the production of spermidine and putrescine. This regulation is vital as polyamines are essential for cellular growth and function, and their dysregulation can contribute to tumorigenesis. Furthermore, PAO gene encodes several transcript variants that produce four active isoenzymes, with the longest isoenzyme, PAOh1, representing a novel addition to the polyamine metabolic pathway and potentially serving as a target for antineoplastic drug development. By modulating intracellular polyamine concentrations, PAO may influence cellular sensitivity to antitumor polyamine analogs, making PAO protein a significant target in cancer research and therapeutic strategies.
