Palmatine works by inhibiting the activity of certain enzymes involved in inflammation and tumor growth. Additionally, it is believed to hinder the activity of enzymes responsible for producing prostaglandins and leukotrienes, molecules closely associated with inflammatory processes. Palmatine, a compound with versatile effects, hinders the function of recombinant cytochrome P450 enzymes responsible for metabolizing xenobiotics and endogenous substances. Additionally, it forms bonds with bacterial DNA, curbing RNA synthesis and ultimately causing the demise of the cells.
