P5CR Antibody (A-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects P5CR of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-P5CR antibody (A-12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. P5CR, or pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase, is a crucial 319 amino acid mitochondrial protein that plays a significant role in proline biosynthesis, catalyzing the final step of this pathway. P5CR exists as a homodecamer, composed of five homodimers, which is essential for enzymatic function and stability. P5CR interacts with both NAD and NADP during oxidative stress conditions, helping to maintain cellular homeostasis. Defects in P5CR can lead to cutis laxa autosomal recessive type 2B (ARCL2B), a multisystem disorder characterized by premature aging, lax skin, joint laxity, and growth deficiencies. P5CR spans nearly 5,000 bases and is located on human chromosome 17q25.3, highlighting its significance in human health and disease.
