p53 activator is a synthetic, cell-permeable 22-mer (peptide 46), corresponding to the C-terminal amino acid residues 361 - 382 of p53. This peptide is linked to a sequence from the third helix of the Drosophila Antennapedia homeodomain protein to allow cell-permeability. Binds mutant p53 and restores the growth suppressor functions of p53 protein in human tumor cells. Induces apoptosis in human tumor cells.
