p18 INK4C Antibody (118.2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects p18 INK4C of mouse, rat, and human origin through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). p18 INK4C (118.2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase, phycoerythrin, fluorescein isothiocyanate, and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. p18 INK4C plays a crucial role in regulating the cell cycle by inhibiting cyclin-dependent kinases, specifically Cdk4 and Cdk6, which are essential for the transition from the G1 phase to the S phase of the cell cycle. This regulation is vital for maintaining proper cell proliferation and preventing uncontrolled cell growth, which can lead to tumorigenesis. p18 INK4C interacts predominantly with Cdk6 and, to a lesser extent, with Cdk4, thereby serving as a critical checkpoint in cell cycle control. p18 INK4C′s ability to inhibit cyclin D-Cdk6 kinase activity underscores its importance in tumor suppression, particularly in the context of cellular responses to growth factors and stress signals. The gene encoding p18 INK4C is located in a chromosomal region frequently altered in various cancers, highlighting its potential as a biomarker for tumor progression and a target for therapeutic intervention.
