QUICK LINKS

p-Tyr Antibody (2C8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects phosphotyrosine in various species by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). p-Tyr (2C8) antibody is available in a non-conjugated form, specifically designed for the detection of phosphotyrosine-containing proteins, which play a crucial role in cellular signaling pathways. Phosphotyrosine serves as a key regulatory mechanism in signal transduction, influencing processes such as cell growth, differentiation, and metabolism. Phosphotyrosine is generated through the action of protein tyrosine kinases, which can be categorized into receptor tyrosine kinases and non-receptor tyrosine kinases, with Src kinases being a prominent example of the latter. These kinases are typically localized to the inner side of the plasma membrane, where they act as signal transducers, facilitating communication between extracellular signals and intracellular responses. The phosphorylation of tyrosine residues on target proteins creates binding sites for downstream signaling molecules, thereby propagating the signal within the cell. Anti-phosphotyrosine antibody (2C8) specifically recognizes phosphotyrosine residues, making this monoclonal antibody an invaluable tool for researchers aiming to characterize and purify proteins involved in these critical signaling pathways, enhancing our understanding of cellular functions and disease mechanisms.

I am using p-Tyr (2C8): sc-81529 antibody for immunoprecipitation, how much antibody should I use?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. We recommend using 1–10 µl (i.e., 0.2–2 µg) of antibody with 1 ml of cell lysate. However, optimal antibody concentration should be determined by titration.
