Oseltamivir Acid is a metabolite of oseltamivir, an antiviral compound. It acts as a competitive inhibitor of influenza neuraminidases A and B (IC50 = 0.1 to 4.9 nM for both enzymes). This compound inhibits neuraminidase-mediated cleavage of host cell sialic acids, which interact with newly synthesised virions from the host cell. This prevents virion budding from the host, resulting in inhibition of virion release and viral infection overall.
