SEE ALSO...

ORP-8 Antibody (PL-C26) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects the ORP-8 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-ORP-8 antibody (PL-C26) is available as a non-conjugated format. ORP-8, also known as MST120, OSBP10, MSTP120, or OSBPL8, is a member of the oxysterol-binding protein (OSBP) family, which plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism and cellular signaling. ORP-8 is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum, where ORP-8 is involved in the regulation of cholesterol homeostasis by suppressing the expression of ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABC1) and thereby inhibiting cholesterol efflux from macrophages. This function is particularly important in the context of atherosclerosis, as dysregulation of cholesterol transport can lead to plaque formation in blood vessels. ORP-8 exists in two isoforms due to alternative splicing, which may further influence its role in lipid metabolism and cardiovascular health. With its highly conserved OSBP-type sterol-binding region and pleckstrin homology domain, ORP-8 exhibits strong binding to phosphatidic acid and weak binding to phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate, highlighting its significance in lipid signaling pathways.
