QUICK LINKS

Ophthalmic Acid is an analogue of glutathione that has been observed to be produced in the kidneys and liver in vivio from precursors L-.alpha.-aminobutyrate or L-.gamma.-glutamyl-L-.alpha.-aminobutyrate. The compound has also been detected in the lens. In metabolomics research the detection of Opthalmic Acid in mouse serum was a sensitive indicator of depleted hepatic GSH.
