QUICK LINKS

Oleyoxyethyl Phosphorylcholine is used as a potent inhibitor in order to investigate the various biological roles of phospholipase A2 (PLA2). Recent studies include using oleyoxyethyl phosphorylcholine as a PLA2 inhibitor in tobacco hornworm salivary glands which disrupted the hydrolysis of arachidonic acid. Oleyoxyethyl Phosphorylcholine may act to inhibit PLA2 ethanol-induced contraction of gastric smooth muscle and also reduced axonal outgrowth from the sciatic nerve stump. This compound is also found to inhibit the myogenic response of isolated renal arcuate arteries. In addition, oleyoxyethyl phosphorylcholine may be used to inhibit sPLA2.
