QUICK LINKS

Octyl β-D-galactopyranoside is a detergent frequently used to solubilise integral membrane proteins. It is particularly useful because it generally does not denature the protein and can be easily removed. Octyl β-D-galactopyranoside has also been shown to prevent the adhesion of bacteria including Staphylococcus epidermidis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Octyl β-D-Galactopyranoside (OG) is a synthetic surfactant employed in biochemical and biophysical research. With a molecular weight of 292.4 g/mol, Octyl β-D-Galactopyranoside serves as a non-ionic detergent.
