Octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate is a phenolic compound used as an antioxidant in wastewater treatment. This compound readily dissolves in methanol and undergoes a reaction with sodium carbonate, resulting in the formation of Octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate. It has shown to have high chemical stability and its ability to effectively inhibit the oxidation of glycol esters.Octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate has also exhibited antioxidative properties in the presence of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It acts as a propionate-based phenolic antioxidant, used as a polymeric stabilizer by butylphenol functionalities.
