SEE ALSO...

Nup153 Antibody (R3G1) is a rat monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Nup153 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Nup153 antibody (R3G1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Nup153 plays a critical role in the structure and function of nuclear pore complexes (NPCs), which are essential for the regulated transport of macromolecules between the nucleus and cytoplasm. Nup153 is a peripheral component of NPCs and is characterized by a unique N-terminal region, a central domain with four to five zinc fingers, and a C-terminal region rich in FXFG repeats. This structural organization is vital for its function in anchoring NPCs within the nuclear envelope and facilitating specific nuclear import events. Additionally, Nup153 is involved in the assembly of NPCs and interacts with key proteins such as TAP, which is crucial for mRNA export. The presence of O-linked N-acetylglucosamine moieties and the distinctive pentapeptide repeat motif (XFXFG) in nucleoporins, including Nup153, underscores the importance of post-translational modifications in regulating NPC dynamics and function. Nup153′s cleavage by caspases during apoptosis further highlights its significance in cellular processes, making it a valuable target for research in nuclear transport and cell cycle regulation.
