Nudifloramide is a metabolite of niacin that was first discovered in a species of nudibranch, a type of sea slug, in the year 2000. It is a small molecule that acts as an inhibitor of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AChE), which is responsible for the breakdown of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (ACh). In vitro studies have demonstrated that Nudifloramide can increase the expression of genes involved in learning and memory, as well as modulate the activity of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine.
