NU 9056 is a selective cPLA2 (KAT5) histone acetyltransferase inhibitor. It may act to inhibit acetylation of proteins in prostate cancer cell lines. It blocks the DNA damage response, decreases proliferation of LNCap cells, and induces apoptosis by caspase activation. In vitro studies have shown that NU 9056 has anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fungal activity. Additionally, NU 9056 may act to inhibit the enzyme cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), which is involved in the production of prostaglandins.
