NS8593 hydrochloride holds a significant position in scientific research and laboratory experiments as an organic compound. Belonging to the benzimidazole class, it has found extensive use in various applications, encompassing both in vivo and in vitro studies. Its versatility is evident in serving as a biochemical reagent, a marker for biological activity. NS8593 hydrochloride acts as a reversible inhibitor of the enzyme cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). The pivotal role of COX-2 lies in the synthesis of prostaglandins, mediators of inflammation. By inhibiting COX-2, N-[(1R)-1,2,3,4-Tetrahydro-1-naphthalenyl]-1H-Benzimidazol-2-amine hydrochloride effectively reduces inflammation and alleviates pain. NS8593 hydrochloride also decreases the calcium sensitivity by shifting the Ca2+ activation curve to the right which only slightly affects the maximal Ca2+ -activated SK current. NS8593 hydrochloride inhibits all SK1-SK3 subtypes Ca2+-dependently. However, in the presence of high concentrations of NS309 (sc-253202), the NS8593 hydrochloride-mediated inhibition is prevented.
