NOP17 Antibody (18Y9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects NOP17 in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). NOP17, also known as PIH1D1, is a phylogenetically conserved protein that plays a crucial role in the processing of pre-ribosomal RNA (pre-rRNA) by associating with a specific class of small nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs) during ribosomal biogenesis. These snoRNAs are integral components of ribonucleoprotein particles that are localized in the nucleolus, where they facilitate the modification and maturation of rRNA. NOP17 consists of 290 amino acids and is characterized by instability, which is counteracted through interaction with heat shock proteins HSP 90α and HSP 90β, ensuring proper function within the nucleolus. Furthermore, NOP17 interacts with the core box C/D snoRNP protein Nop58, highlighting an essential role in mediating nucleolar retention and assembly of box C/D snoRNP complexes. Notably, mutations in NOP17 can result in a temperature-sensitive phenotype, leading to the delocalization of critical NOP proteins necessary for snoRNP assembly, thereby underscoring the importance of NOP17 in maintaining ribosomal RNA processing and overall cellular function. Anti-NOP17 antibody (18Y9) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying ribosomal biogenesis and molecular mechanisms underlying nucleolar function.

Can sc-101000: Nop17 (18Y9) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: TinTin
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-101000: Nop17 (18Y9) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
