NNC 05-2090 hydrochloride is a GABA uptake inhibitor; displays moderate selectivity for BGT-1 (mGAT-2) transporters. GABA transporters belong to the solute carrier family 6 (SLC6) and are sodium- and chlorde-dependent members that mediate the rapid removal of GABA. NNC 05-2090 hydrochloride also displays affinity at α1- and D2-receptors (IC50 values are 266 and 1632 nM respectively). NNC 05-2090 hydrochloride is an inhibitor of GABA T-1, GABA T-2 and GABA T-3.
