    SEE ALSO...

NIT1 Antibody (D-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects NIT1 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). NIT1 (D-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. NIT1, or nitrilase homolog 1, is a 327 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in regulating cell growth and apoptosis, functioning as a tumor suppressor. NIT1 is primarily localized in the cytoplasm and mitochondria of various tissues, including the placenta, kidney, brain, liver, heart, pancreas, and skeletal muscle, which is significant as NIT1 presence in these areas is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis and responding to stress signals. Notably, NIT1 is involved in the metabolism of nitriles and organic amides, cleaving them to produce carboxylic acids and ammonia, which are vital for various metabolic processes. NIT1 expression levels are tightly regulated; loss of NIT1 expression can lead to accelerated cell proliferation and increased resistance to DNA damage, while NIT1 overexpression can trigger caspase-dependent apoptosis. Additionally, NIT1 exists in four isoforms due to alternative splicing, which may contribute to NIT1 functional diversity and regulatory mechanisms in different cellular contexts.
