Nicotelline, a synthetic compound, has been specifically designed to emulate the effects of nicotine within the body. Although structurally similar to nicotine, nicotelline possesses distinct properties and effects. By binding to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, which play a role in regulating various physiological functions, nicotelline initiates a series of events that lead to the release of neurotransmitters, including dopamine and norepinephrine.
