NH125 is a cell-permeable imidazolium compound that has been used to study anticancer therapies. eEF2K is an ubiquitous protein kinase that phosphorylates and inactivates eEF2, and thus can modulate the rate of polypeptide chain elongation during translation. NH125 may act to inhibit cancer cell growth through inhibition of eukaryotic elongation eEF2K (factor-2 kinase). NH125 induces eEF2 phosphorylation inhibition of cancer cell growth is correlated with induction of p-eEF2. NH125 is an inhibitor of CaMK.
