Neutral Red Solution is a chemical dye that functions as a vital stain in cellular and molecular biology. When added to cell cultures, Neutral Red Solution is taken up by cells and accumulates in the lysosomes, which are membrane-bound organelles containing various hydrolytic enzymes. The dye interacts with the acidic environment within the lysosomes, causing them to become brightly stained. This property allows visualization and quantification of lysosomal activity and integrity.
