Nerolidol is a sesquiterpene alcohol that functions as a plant-derived compound with various biological activities. It acts as a precursor in the biosynthesis of other terpenes and plays a role in the defense mechanisms of certain plants. At the molecular level, nerolidol interacts with cell membranes and may act to exhibit antimicrobial properties.
