Neotetrazolium chloride is use for the histochemical detection of dehydrogenases. It is also used as reagent for spectrophotometric determination of manganese. Neotetrazolium chloride is also used in microbial growth assays. Its applications extend to measuring cellular respiration rates and detecting the presence of enzymes. It is used to assess cell growth, detecting cell death, and identifying apoptosis.
