Nek5 Antibody (OC-65) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Nek5 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). Nek5, or NimA-related protein kinase 5, is a crucial 708 amino acid protein that plays a significant role in the regulation of the cell cycle, particularly in the transition to mitosis. As a member of the serine/threonine protein kinase superfamily, Nek5 contains a protein kinase domain that facilitates the ATP-dependent phosphorylation of target proteins, a process essential for various cellular functions including cell division and apoptosis. The proper functioning of Nek5 is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and ensuring accurate mitotic progression, as dysregulation of this kinase can lead to aberrant cell cycle control and contribute to oncogenesis.
