NEEP21 Antibody (364.1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects NEEP21 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). NEEP21, also known as neuron-enriched endosomal 21kDa protein, plays a crucial role in neuronal maturation and is primarily localized to Rab 4-positive early endosomes within the somatodendritic compartment of neurons. This localization is vital as NEEP21 facilitates proper sorting and recycling of receptors, ensuring effective synaptic transmission. NEEP21 interacts with key proteins such as GRIP1 and GluR-2, promoting the surface expression of GluR-2, which is essential for maintaining synaptic strength and plasticity. Disruption of this interaction can lead to the accumulation of GluR-2 in early endosomes, adversely affecting synaptic current properties and potentially contributing to neurological disorders.
