NDUFA10, also known as CI-42KD, is a 355 amino acid protein located in the mitochondrial matrix, where NDUFA10 serves as an essential accessory subunit of the mitochondrial membrane respiratory chain NADH dehydrogenase complex I. This complex is crucial for cellular respiration, as NDUFA10 facilitates the transfer of electrons from NADH to the respiratory chain, a process vital for ATP production and overall cellular energy metabolism. NDUFA10 utilizes flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) as a cofactor and collaborates with other proteins to ensure efficient electron transfer within the respiratory chain.
