NCX 4040 is a NO-donating aspirin and anti-inflammatory. NCX 4040 blocks inflammatory mediator production in isolated human monocytes IL-1β (IC50 of 0.07 μM), PGE2 (IC50 of 0.13 μM), IL-10 (IC50 of 0.15 μM) and TNF-α (IC50 of 0.18 μM). NCX 4040 inhibits Cox-2 expression (IC50 of 0.13 μM) and disrupts proteasome-mediated degradation of iκB-α. NCX 4040 is an antiproliferative in HCT116 colon cancer cells and sensitizes drug-resistant ovarian tumor cells to cisplatin (sc-200896).
