SEE ALSO...

nardilysin Antibody (A-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects nardilysin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-nardilysin antibody (A-6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Nardilysin, also known as N-arginine dibasic convertase, NRD1, or NRD convertase, is a 1,147 amino acid metalloendopeptidase that plays a crucial role in processing propeptide and proprotein substrates by cleaving at the amino-terminus of arginine residues in dibasic motifs. This enzymatic activity is vital for the activation of various protein precursors, which can influence numerous physiological processes, including cell signaling and migration. The nardilysin gene is located on chromosome 1p32.2 and is primarily expressed as a 3.6-kb transcript in adult heart, skeletal muscle, and testis, with expression in the testis being restricted to germ cells. As a member of the insulinase family, nardilysin serves as a specific receptor for heparin-binding epidermal growth factor-like growth factor (HB-EGF), modulating HB-EGF-induced cell migration through the ErbB1 pathway. Notably, nardilysin exhibits significant similarity to insulinase and two yeast processing enzymes, Axl1 and Ste2, highlighting its evolutionary conservation and functional importance. Defects in the gene encoding nardilysin have been associated with inherited neuromuscular disorders, underscoring its critical role in human health.
