    SEE ALSO...

Napsin A Antibody (10C4B8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects the Napsin A protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Napsin A antibody (10C4B8) is available as the non-conjugated format. Napsin A is an aspartic proteinase belonging to the peptidase A1 family, crucial for the processing of surfactant proteins in pneumocytes, which are essential for maintaining surface tension in the alveoli and facilitating gas exchange in the lungs. Napsin A consists of 420 amino acids, including a 24-residue signal peptide, a 40-amino acid propeptide, a mature enzyme of 336 amino acids, and a C-terminal extension of 18 residues. Mature Napsin A features three predicted disulfide bonds and three potential N-linked oligosaccharide attachment sites, which are important for stability and function. Napsin A contains an RGD motif that serves as a recognition site for integrin binding, enhancing cell adhesion and signaling roles. Highest expression levels of Napsin A are found in adult lung type II pneumocytes, fetal lung, and kidney tissues, with lower levels detected in the adult spleen and minimal expression in peripheral blood leukocytes. Human Napsin A shares 72.6% sequence identity with mouse Napsin A, highlighting evolutionary conservation and significance in respiratory physiology.

Can sc-517223: Napsin A (10C4B8) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

    Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-517223: Napsin A (10C4B8) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
