Nalmefene hydrochloride has been reported to be an opioid receptor antagonist. The opioid family of G-protein-coupled receptors contains three types of opioids mu opioid receptor (MOR), delta opioid receptor (DOR), and kappa opioid receptor (KOR). Activating these receptors leads to the release of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine. Nalmefene hydrochloride has been studied for its various biological activities, including anti-inflammatory, anti-nociceptive, anticonvulsant, and neuroprotective effects.
