N1-Guanyl-1,7-Diaminoheptane (GC7), is the most efficient inhibitor of deoxyhypusine synthase (DHS) known. As a competitive inhibitor it binds to the active site of DHS and prevents the first step in the post-translational conversion of a single lysine to hypusine in translation initiation factor 5A (eIF5A). The modification is essential for sustained cell growth. N1-Guanyl-1,7-Diaminoheptane acts on purified DHS and penetrates cells well to inhibit DHS inside the cell. N1-Guanyl-1,7-Diaminoheptane has been used as cell cycle synchronizing reagent.

Thanks for your inquiry. For dissolution method, below information may be as your reference: dissolve in 10 mM acetic acid to prevent precipitation from atmospheric CO2. When GC7 is used for cell culture it should be used together with 0.5mM aminoguanidine to prevent destruction of monoamine oxidase.Store at -20 °C when in solution.
