N1-Acetylspermine-d3 Trihydrochloride (ASP-triHCl) is a derivative of spermine, a polyamine found in the cell nucleus of all eukaryotic organisms. It believed to act as a polyamine analog, binding to polyamine-binding proteins and interfering with their normal function. This can lead to a variety of changes in biochemical and physiological processes, depending on the target protein. It may act to inhibit the growth of cancer cells, modulate the activity of enzymes involved in polyamine metabolism, regulate the expression of genes involved in cell cycle progression, and modulate the activity of enzymes involved in DNA replication and repair. In scientific research, it has been used as a tool to study the role of polyamines in cell signaling, as a fluorescent probe for the detection of polyamines, and as a substrate for polyamine oxidase. N1-Acetylspermine-d3 Trihydrochloride has also been used to study the effects of polyamines on gene expression and protein synthesis.
